Job Description        -    Area Sales Manager (ASM)

Reports to            -    Business Development Manager (BDM)

Works with           -    Sales Representative (SR)

 

Purpose: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Sales Manager to join our dynamic Pharmaceutical Division. As the Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and revenue by identifying new business opportunities and developing effective strategies to increase business development.

Your key responsibilities will include analyzing market trends, identifying customer needs, and proposing new strategies to develop the business. You will lead a team of sales representatives, providing guidance and support to achieve sales targets and goals.

To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record of achieving sales targets, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. You should be able to develop and implement effective sales strategies and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

As the Area Sales Manager, you will have a range of specific duties and responsibilities to ensure the successful development and growth of the business in your assigned area. Some of the key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Budget and Profitability Analysis:

    • Analyze the budget and profitability through cost-effective methods.

    • Develop strategies to optimize sales and revenue growth.

  • Business Development:

    • Investigate potential business opportunities within the assigned area and convert them into key accounts.

    • Develop and implement business development strategies to ensure long-term success.

    • Ensure the expansion of sales and brand visibility.

  • Team Management:

    • Lead your team to provide the best customer service.

    • Determine long-term success by proposing different business development strategies.

    • Train and mentor the team on brand placement and use of the brand.

    • Plan targets for the team and ensure that they are timely achieved.

    • Evaluate the performance of the staff on an individual basis.

  • Market Analysis:

    • Perform detailed analysis of new market trends, consumer behavior, and competition in the market.

    • Use this analysis to develop effective sales strategies and operational changes.

  • Customer Service:

    • Acknowledge customer queries timely and effectively.

  • Sales and Distribution:

    • Develop and strengthen the sales and distribution network by overseeing the regular field visits of the Sales Representatives and ensuring high-quality reporting.

    • Improve/modify and make the case stories shared by field functionaries more appealing and authentic and forward the same to the Business Development Manager.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Provide administrative support to field staff on leaves, travel reimbursement, performance appraisal, etc.

  • Daily Field Coverage Plan:

    • Assist/Support the Sales Representative of the district in preparing a daily field coverage plan.

 

  As the Area Sales Manager, you will play a critical role in driving sales growth, developing effective sales strategies, and leading a team of sales representatives to ensure the success of the business in your assigned area.

 

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Sales Management, Marketing or relevant field.

  2. Proven 2 years of working experience in the pharmaceutical company as an Area Sales Manager in a reputed organization.

  3. Excellent planning execution skills.

Purpose

We’re looking for a results-driven Sales Representative with excellent interpersonal skills to actively seek out and engage customer prospects.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Serves customers by selling brands and meeting customer needs.

  2. Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.

  3. Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.

  4. Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.

  5. Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.

  6. Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.

  7. Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.

  8. Recommends changes in products, services, and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments.

  9. Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.

  10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

  11. Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.

  12. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
